The Big Pet Store needed dependable Wi-Fi across its premises and stronger control of the network supporting sales, security and everyday operations.

A busy independent retailer with technology woven into the working day.
The Big Pet Store has traded since 1991 and operates from a 3,000 square-foot store in Halesowen. Its network supports point-of-sale equipment, staff systems, security devices, digital displays and customer connectivity across the premises.
When that connection became unreliable, the effect was operational rather than merely technical. Lost connections could interrupt sales-critical equipment, create transaction backlogs and make it harder for the team to keep the store moving.
The challenge
The old setup was no longer dependable enough for the business relying on it.
Coverage gaps
Wi-Fi did not consistently reach every part of the premises, leaving equipment and working areas with an unreliable connection.
Intermittent signal loss
Connection drops affected sales-critical and business-critical equipment, contributing to avoidable delays and backlogs.
Limited control
The network lacked central management, making visibility, fault-finding and controlled support more difficult.
Unstructured infrastructure
Different types of equipment were not reasonably separated, while cabling and hardware needed a clearer, more maintainable arrangement.
The solution
One managed foundation, designed around the way the store operates.
Rogue Sparrow Digital designed and installed the physical and digital network as one coordinated system. Three wired Wi-Fi 6 access points were positioned across the site, each using a Cat6 backhaul to provide dependable coverage without relying on wireless repeating.
A centrally managed gateway, switch and controller created a clearer view of the whole environment. Business systems, guest access, security equipment, digital displays and network management were separated into appropriate traffic groups, with access controlled around operational need.
